Breakthrough Product: Vein Viewer
Kintz Plastics was
recently awarded the production for the covers
of a new medical product. This product has
achieved significant visibility world-wide,
including recognition by Time Magazine as “one
of the coolest medical inventions of the year.”
The device, named the “VeinViewer,” makes veins
visible to the naked eye, thus eliminating
multiple sticks to draw blood or insert IV’s. It
uses multiple patented technologies that project
a real-time image of the underlying veins
directly onto the patient’s skin (below)
enabling a clinician to locate the exact
location of a vein to within 0.06mm.
There are six pressure-formed parts that cover
the unit which range in size from 2” x 6” to 21
1/2” x 20” with a 19” depth of draw. Each part
is designed with a formed-in undercut and fits
precisely together on the unit so that all the
seam lines are uniform once assembled.
