Kintz's thermoforming expertise has garnered numerous honors, their latest being top honors at the 2005 TINA competition for the best heavy gauge Industrial entry and the best heavy gauge Medical entry.
Thermoforming Institute National Awards (TINA).
The competition was held in Naples, FL and was attended by both heavy gauge and thin gauge thermoforming
manufacturers from across America. Kintz entries won first place in both the heavy gauge
Medical category and the heavy gauge
Industrial category.
The heavy gauge Industrial entry was a large, twin-sheet formed plenum. Eight of these units are keyed together to form a 12’ diameter unit used in wastewater air filtration systems. Each plenum is made to support up to 1200 lbs. The part was originally made of fiberglass but the customer needed to convert to a material that weighed less, had high stiffness and provided better heat, chemical and corrosion resistance. Kintz redesigned the part for twin-sheet forming and then worked with GE Polymers to select a material that would meet all of the customer’s criteria. Kintz tested a new GE material and was able to successfully form the part. The customer has now installed many of these air filtration units with the new plenums around the world.
